Ponniyin Selvan (PS-1) is one of the most expected films from the Tamil film industry. Scheduled to hit the big screens on September 30, the historical drama is helmed by Mani Ratnam and is based on Tamil novel by the same name about the Chola dynasty. However, according to reports, the filmmaker and actor Vikram have been slapped with a court notice, for allegedly misrepresenting the Cholas.

As part of the promotions, the makers released poster looks of the cast as their respective characters. With this regard, Vikram’s look as Aditya Karikalan was also released. The actor sported a long-mane, with a twirled moustache and tilak on his forehead, riding atop a majestic horse.

Pointing out to this, a lawyer named Selvam, in his notice, claimed that Aditya Karikalan does not sport a tilak on his forehead, thus contradicting what is in the poster. The lawyer further claimed that he doubts the representation of the Cholas in the film and demanded for a screening to check if there are any factual errors in the film.

The makers have not yet responded to the allegation.

Apart from Vikram, Ponniyin Selvan features a star cast, including Karthi, Aishwarya Rai, Trisha, Jayam Ravi, Vikram Prabhu, among others. Backed by Madras Talkies and Lyca Productions, the film will release in two parts and. It will have music by AR Rahman, and a screenplay by Mani Ratnam, Jeyamohan, and Kumaravel.
