The makers of Ponniyin Selvan (PS-1), the upcoming big budget historical drama, helmed by filmmaker Mani Ratnam, will be kickstarting the film’s promotions this week.

The team unveiled a motion poster saying ‘The Cholas are coming’, with a flag waving.

Ponniyin Selvan is a two part film which is based on the epic book of the same name, authored by Kalki.

While the film is set to hit the big screens on September 30, the historical drama features an ensemble star cast, including Vikram, Karthi, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Trisha, and Jayam Ravi from the film. The cast also includes Vikram Prabhu, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Prabhu, Jayaram, Prakash Raj, Lal, Sarath Kumar, and Ashwin Kakamanu. The makers released the first look posters of the characters in March.

It is produced by Madras Talkies and Lyca Productions. The duology will see Mani Ratnam collaborate once more with ace composer AR Rahman. With screenplay by Mani Ratnam, Jeyamohan and Kumaravel, Ponniyin Selvan wrapped up production in September last year, and was shot across India.
