Director Tha Se Gnanavel's critically acclaimed courtroom drama, Jai Bhim, featuring actors Suriya, Lijomol Jose and Manikandan in the lead, has won three awards at the Ninth Noida International Film festival, 2022.

The film fetched Suriya the Best Actor award and Lijomol Jose, the award for Best Actress. It also took home the award for Best Film.

On Monday, Rajsekar Pandian, the CEO of 2D Entertainment, the production house that backed the film, announced the news on Twitter.

Jai Bhim is inspired by a real-life landmark case which shed light on the custodial torture that a man from the Irula tribe is subjected to and the rampant discrimination based on caste.  Produced by Suriya and Jyotika under the banner of 2D Entertainment, the film has been winning widespread acclaim ever since it released on Amazon Prime Video.

Recently, Jai Bhim got selected among the 276 feature films eligible for the 94th Academy Awards in the Best Picture category. It was also featured in the Academy’s popular spotlight section Scene At the Academy.

In addition to the Academy Awards, the film also received official entry to the prestigious Golden Globes 2022 in the Non-English language Movie category.
