Jai Bhim starring Suriya, Manikandan and Lijomol Jose has been featured on the Oscars’ official YouTube handle. The film has been featured in the popular section Scene At the Academy. The film was released in November 2021 and is directed by TJ Gnanavel.

The video itself is 12 minutes and 47 second long clip which features the director explanation of the theme of his film.

In the video, he says, “The opening scene of the film shows the police segregating tribal people on the basis of caste. You could call it the film's theme. How easily a powerful system can brand the oppressed as habitual offenders on the basis of caste.”

He further adds, “When a privileged person is in trouble, their whole community shows up to fight. But for minorities like tribal people? They have no hope or scope.”

The scene featured in the video features people from the tribal communities getting rounded up by the cops who files false cases against them right after they are released from jail. This forms the basis of custodial discrimination based on caste discrimination.

Jai Bhim was bankrolled by Suriya and Jyothika’s 2D Entertainment.
