A new still of actor Dhanush has been released from the team of his upcoming film Vaathi. The Asuran actor shared the new stills on Twitter marking the first day of the shoot of the bilingual film. 

Vaathi, titled SIR in Telugu is directed by Venky Atluri and marks Dhanush's foray into the Telugu film industry. The ceremonial rites before the start of the shoot were held on January 3 in the presence Dhanush, director Venky, female lead Samyuktha Menon, and other cast members and crew of the film. 

It is speculated that Dhanush will play a college professor in the film. A poster featuring Dhanush in a cardigan sporting Money Heist Professor's signia was released, and this gave credence to the speculation. 

Vaathi is produced by Sithara Entertainments headed by Suryadevara Naga Vamsi and Sai Soujanya of Fortune Four Cinemas. The music for the film is composed by GV Prakash and the cinematography is by Dinesh Krishnan.
