After actor Suriya opted out of Bala's Vanangaan, there were speculations that his other film with director Vetrimaaran, Vaadivaasal has also been shelved. However dismissing such rumours, the producer of the film, Kalaipuli S Thanu confirmed that the film works are on.

Directed by Vetrimaaran, the film is produced by Kalaipuli S Thanu under his V Creations banner.

The film is based on the novel of the same name by late writer CS Chellappa. Suriya plays a Jallikattu player in Vaadivaasal. A few months ago, the makers had released a glimpse of Suriya taming the bull for the film.

While there have been no updates about the film in the recent past, Thanu, while speaking to India Today, clarified, "These are baseless rumours. People seem to spread such news for their 10-minute fame. I request fans not to believe this news. The film is still on and the pre-production work is currently underway."

Vaadivaasal will see Suriya collaborating with the director for the first time. Meanwhile, Suriya is currently shooting for his film with Siva. The actor is reported to play dual roles in the film which will be set in two timelines.
