Ex Tamil Producers Council President K Muralidharan has passed away in Kumbakonam due to heart attack. In association with V Swaminathan and G Venugopal, he had produced several major films like Anbe Sivam, Pudhupettai and Bagavathi, under their banner Lakshmi Movie Makers.

The banner has delivered commercially successful films with almost every leading actor, including Karthik, Sarathkumar, Ajith Kumar, Vijay, Suriya, Rambha, Vijayakanth, Meena, Khushbu, Parthiban, Dhanush, Silambarasan, and Jayam Ravi.

Muralidharan turned producer with the 1994 film Aranmanai Kavalan, starring Sarathkumar. The production company went on to deliver blockbusters like Karthik's Gokulathil Seethai and were behind some of the biggest successes in the 90s and mid-2000s. Their last production venture was the Jayam Ravi-starrer Sakalakala Vallavan.

The sudden demise of the producer is being mourned by film personalities and  actor-director Manobala, producers KT Kunjumon and Dhananjayan have tweeted out their condolence message.
