Director V Gowthaman, known for helming Kanave Kalaiyadhe (1998) and Magizhchi (2010), is back with a new film. Titled Maveera, Gowthaman will serve as the writer and director of the film. The film is produced by VK Production Group.

Speaking about the film, Gowthaman says, "My lifetime aim is to give the world the uncompromised history of the heroes who lived in Santhanakadu, Mundhirikadu and Vannikadu regions, which are inseparable from the history of Tamils. The film Maveera is the epic story of a real hero who protected the land and honour." 

GV Prakash has been roped in as the music director of Maveera which will have cinematography by Vetrivel Mahendran. The makers are planning on announcing the cast list soon.
