The filming for Suriya's next with director Siva commenced on Wednesday. Making the announcement on Twitter, Suriya shared a photo with Siva and music composer Devi Sri Prasad.

It was earlier reported that the film was launched officially on Sunday. Tentatively titled Suriya 42, the film is produced jointly by KE Gnanavel Raja's Studio Green and Vikram-Vamsi under the banner of UV Creations.

Billed as a big-scale period drama, the film is penned by Adi Narayana with dialogues by Madhan Karky. The film's technical crew reportedly includes DOP Vetri Palanisamy, art director Milan,  and action choreographer Supreme Sundar.

Meanwhile, Suriya, who recently played the cameo roles in Kamal Haasan-starrer Vikram and Madhavan's Rocketry, will be next seen in Bala's Vanangaan and Vaadivaasal. There are also speculations about director Lokesh Kanakaraj reviving Irumbu Kai Mayavi with Suriya.
