CE Features

The much -awaited and long delayed Tamil film Indian 2 has commenced shooting on Wednesday after an inaugural ceremony, the makers announced on social media.

Indian 2 is the sequel to Kamal Haasan's 1996 Tamil vigilante action film Indian. Directed by Shankar, the upcoming sequel will also be helmed by the filmmaker, with the actor reprising the titular role. Additional cast members include Kajal Aggarwal, Siddharth, Priya Bhavani Shankar, Rakul Preet Singh, Gulshan Grover, Bobby Simha, among others. Kajal Aggarwal, who was rumoured to have been replaced, had also recently confirmed that she will be starting the shoot from mid-September.

For a very long time, Indian 2 was being delayed due to various hurdles. The film, which went on floors a couple of years ago, hit a roadblock after a freak crane accident happened on the sets. Following this, the film also suffered legal obstacles after disagreements cropped up between Shankar and production house Lyca Productions.

However, recently, actor-politician Udhayanidhi Stalin confirmed that works for the film will be restarted by the banner. In a pleasant turn of events, the makers had also released a new poster of Indian 2, which confirms that Udhayanidhi will be also producing the film along with Lyca Productions.
