Director Shankar conferred with honorary doctorate 

The director is currently working with Ram Charan for a multilingual film

Filmmaker-producer Shankar, who is currently working with Ram Charan for a film, has been conferred with a doctorate by Chennai-based Vels University, Pallavaram.

It is to be noted that this is the second time the ace director is receiving a honorary doctorate. Earlier in 2007, he had received the same honour from MGR University, along with actor Vijay.

Known for his lavish and big-budget films, Shankar made his debut with Gentleman in 1993. The director has delivered super hits such as Indian, Mudhalvan, Jeans, Anniyan, to name a few. On the work front, Shankar is currently working with Ram Charan and Kiara Advani. The director also has Hindi remake of Anniyan, starring Ranveer Singh in the lead.
