Thiagarajan Kumararaja to produce Amazon Prime Video's Modern Love Chennai

Amazon Prime Video has released its slate of films and series for the new fiscal year and there are a bunch of Tamil originals that the OTT giant has confirmed. Super Deluxe-director Thiagarajan Kumararaja is bankrolling the Tamil version of the hit Modern Love series.

Titled Modern Love Chennai, the anthology, according to the makers, will "explores six diverse yet universal stories of different facets, shades and moods of love, all set in the city’s many unique milieus." With Thiagarajan's banner Tyler Durden and Kino Fist producing the series, Bharathiraja, Balaji Sakthivel, Raju Murugan, Krishnakumar Ramakumar, Akshay Sundher have been announced as the directors who will be helming the episodes in the series.

While Balaji Tharaneetharan, Rajumurugan, Reshma Ghatala, Pratheep Kumar and Thiagarajan Kumararaja are on board as the writers, the cast includes Kishore, Ramya Nambeesan, Ashok Selvan, Ritu Varma, Vijayalakshmi, TJ Banu, Gouri Reddy, Samyuktha Vishwanathan, Vasudevan Murali, Chu Khoy Sheng, Sanjula S.

This series will mark the OTT debut of all its directors including the veteran filmmaker Bharathiraja. It's also Kaadhal-fame Balaji Sakthivel's return to direction after 2012's Vazhakku Enn 18/9. Modern Love Chennai will also mark the directorial debut of actor Krishnakumar Ramakumar who is otherwise famously known as Five Star Krishna. While Raju Murugan is known for films like Joker and Gypsy, Akshay Sundher is a well-known ad filmmaker.

An official streaming date for the series is expected soon. Meanwhile, the Hollywood series have been adapted in Japanese as Modern Love Tokyo which is expected to stream this year too. Apart from the Tamil version, the series will also be made in Telugu and Hindi.
