Shoot for Vijay's new film with director Vamshi Paidipally kickstarted recently. Tentatively titled Thalapathy 66, the film stars Rashmika Mandanna and Sarathkumar in prominent roles. Latest reports suggest that actor Shaam has joined the film's cast. Interestingly, Shaam had played an uncredited role in Vijay's 2000-released film, Kushi.

Thalapathy 66, produced by Dil Raju of Sri Venkateswara Creations, is scripted jointly by Vamshi Paidipally, Hari, and Ashishor Solomon. Lyricist Vivek is penning the dialogues and additional screenplay.

Billed as a family entertainer, the film has Kharthik Palani as the cinematographer and KL Praveen as the editor. Thaman is composing music for the film.

Earlier, producer Dil Raju had revealed that they are aiming a Deepavali 2022 release or for Pongal 2023.
