The first part of Mani Ratnam's Ponniyin Selvan duology has been wrapped up. The news was revealed by the production houses of the film Lyca Production and Madras Talkies.

The film, which has a host of actors including Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Vikram, Jayam Ravi, Karthi, Trisha, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Sobhita Dhulipala, Prabhu and Sarath Kumar, has been shot across India and the final schedules of the film were shot in Madhya Pradesh,  Hyderabad and Pollachi.

Recently, actors Karthi and Jayam Ravi had tweeted about completing shooting for both the parts of Ponniyin Selvan. 

Based on the best-selling novel by Kalki, Ponniyin Selvan-1 has a screenplay by Mani Ratnam, Jeyamohan and Kumaravel. With music and background score by AR Rahman, the lyrics of the songs have been penned by Elango Krishnan, Kabilan, Siva Ananth and Krithika Nelson. 

Ponniyin Selvan-1 will hit the screens in the summer of 2022.
