Amid rumours that Vishnu Vishal's much-awaited film FIR will take the OTT route for its release, the actor took to Twitter to clarify that the rumours are not true and that the makers are trying to release the film in theatres.

"#FIR on direct OTT is wrong news at d moment....Please wait for the official announcement..Like i have always said ,as a producer and an actor i wil try to the best of my ability and capacity to release #FIR in theatres..we made it for a great theatrical experience..(sic)," he wrote.

The release of FIR, which wrapped up production in January this year, was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. There is no clarity about when the film will be released.

Directed by Manu Anand, an erstwhile assistant of director Gautham Vasudev Menon, FIR has Manjima Mohan, Reba Monica John, and Raiza Wilson playing the female leads. Vishnu plays Irfan Ahmed, a Muslim youth on the run. Gautham is also playing a key role in the film.

FIR has music by Ashwath, cinematography by Kirumi-fame Arul Vincent, and editing by Prasanna GK.
