Actor Rajinikanth has been admitted to Kauvery Hospital earlier today. A source close to the unit has stated that the actor has visited the hospital for a routine check-up and it's not clear if he has to stay admitted overnight. 

An official confirmation is yet to be released from both the hospital and the actor. Sources have also stated that family members of the star have also made their way to the hospital. 

Meanwhile, the actor is awaiting the release of Annaatthe. Directed by Siva, the film stars Keerthy Suresh, Kushbu, Meena, Prakash Raj, Jagapati Babu and Soori. The film's trailer was released yesterday and has garnered seven million views already. Annaatthe will hit screens for Deepavali on November 4.
