The release of Silambarasan TR's Maanaadu, which was earlier scheduled to hit screens during Deepavali, has been postponed. The film will now release on November 25.

The news was announced by producer Suresh Kamatchi of V House Productions on his Twitter handle. Venkat Prabhu's Maanaadu was postponed multiple times due to the pandemic, and was finally announced to hit screens for Deepavali, competing with Rajinikanth's Annaatthe and Vishal-Arya's Enemy

Suresh said the decision was made considering the risk of distributors facing financial losses. "It is customary for people to watch more than one film on a festival day. That was the reason behind our decision to release during Deepavali. Competition was never a factor, and I don't think that would be a wise way to look at it," he said.

"Maanaadu has come out well. I can confidently release the film on Deepavali. However, I don't want those who have vested their business interests in the film to be affected. The distributors and those who have paid for the theatrical release should only see profits and not losses. Considering this, we have decided to exit the Deepavali race. The film will now release on November 25. I wish the best to all the upcoming releases. I thank all those who will gracefully accept our decision," added Suresh.

Directed by Venkat Prabhu, Maanaadu is touted as a sci-fi thriller based on time-reversal and loop. Co-starring SJ Suryah, Kalyani Priyadarshan in the lead roles, the film also has Premgi Amaren, Bharathiraja and SA Chandrasekaran.

The film has music by Yuvan Shankar Raja and cinematography by Richard M Nathan.
