Lyricist-actor Piraisoodan passes away

Popular Tamil poet and film lyricist Piraisoodan breathed his last breath today evening at a private hospital in Chennai. He was admitted following age-related ailments. He was 65.

Piraisoodan has written around 1,400 songs in over 400 films in Tamil. Some of his popular songs include Nooru Varusham Intha Mappilaiyum Ponnunthan (Panakkaran), Aattama Therottama (Captain Prabhakaran), Sola Pasunkiliye (En Rasavin Manasile), and Kadhal Kavithaigal (Gopura Vasalile).

Apart from being a State Award-winning lyricist, Piraisoodan is also a dialogue writer and he served as the secretary of the writer's union for a while.

Piraisoodan has also acted in a couple of films and he was last seen in the Jai-starrer Pugazh. He is survived by his wife a son and composer Dhaya Piraisoodan and daughter.
