Jai Bhim director TJ Gnanavel opens up about calendar controversy

Director TJ Gnanavel, the director of Jai Bhim, has released a detailed statement on the controversy surrounding his film. The director said that it was not his intention to target a particular community. 

On the scene featuring the Vanniyar community calendar, the director said, "The calendar was placed to reflect the times of 1995, but we never intended to target a certain community."

He added, "I empathize with anyone dismayed and hurt by the film."

Ever since it was released on Amazon Prime Video on November 2, Jai Bhim has become a topic of debate. While it has been predominantly hailed for its stand against oppression and casteism, a few sects have raised red flags against its portrayal of the Vanniyar community.
