Maestro Ilaiyaraaja took to Twitter to share his New Year greetings earlier today. In a hearty selfie video, the legendary musician can be seen singing 'Ilamai Itho Itho' from Sakalakala Vallavan (1982). He even ends the video by joyfully asking, "Ithu epdi irukku?"

The original song was rendered by SP Balasubrahmanyam in the SP Muthuraman directorial. Fans and celebs have quickly embraced the 33-second video posted by the musician.

Responding to the tweet Kamal Haasan, who was featured in the original song, wrote, "I have met Ilaiyaraja just three days ago. He is as youthful and cheerful as ever."

Director Seenu Ramasamy, on the other hand, shared, "There couldn't be a better New Year wish than this. When you have a youthful heart, this majorly applies to true artists. Aren't you the reason, we are still young? Your songs are the garland to our memory."

The video has gained over 31,000 likes, 5,000 retweets, and 1,000 quote tweets. It has been watched over 2,60,000 times.
