Comedian-actor Vadivelu is recovering well after being tested positive for Covid, said hospital officials in a statement that was released on December 27. 

The statement from Suhas Prabhakar, the medical director of the hospital read, "Mr Vadivelu was admitted on 23.12.2021 with positive report for Covid in Sri Ramachandra Medical Centre, he is recovering well with treatment and is stable." 

They also informed that the actor is likely to be discharged soon.

Regarded as one of the best comedians in the Tamil Film industry, Vadivelu has not been seen on screen for a while now. He had last appeared in the films Mersal and Shivalinga in 2017. He is also gearing up to make a comeback with the film Naai Sekhar Returns.

Vadivelu, music director Santosh Narayanan and director Suraaj were in London, UK, for the pre-production work of the film. Upon his return, the actor developed symptoms for Covid-19.
