We had recently reported about Pa Ranjith teaming up with Vikram for a new film. Tentatively titled Chiyaan 61, the film is produced by KE Gnanavelraja of Studio Green.

In a recent chat with us, director Ranjith revealed that the film will be officially launched in March 2022. Just like Ranjith's previous works, this is also expected to be a content-oriented political film. Further details related to the project are currently under tight wraps. Interestingly, Ranjith had evinced interest in making a rooted superhero film, and we have to wait to see if Chiyaan 61 would be that project. 

Meanwhile, Ranjith recently completed the shoot of Natchathiram Nagargirathu, starring Kalidas Jayaram, Dushara Vijayan, and Kalaiayarasan as the leads.

Vikram is currently awaiting the release of Karthik Subbaraj's Mahaan, co-starring his son, Dhruv. He also has Mani Ratnam's Ponniyin Selvan, Cobra by Ajay Gnanamuthu, and the long-delayed Dhruva Natchathiram waiting for release.
