Master, Beast, and Vijay: The Thalapathy takes over Twitter in 2021

CE Features

The annual collation of data by Twitter is here, and it is clear that it was our very own Vijay who spearheaded the platform's entertainment sector (India) in 2021.

Just like in 2019, history repeated itself in 2021 as a Vijay-starrer, Master, became the only entertainment-related hashtag in the "Most Tweeted Hashtags in India" list. Incidentally, in 2019, the Vijay-Atlee film, Bigil, became the only Indian film on this list.

In this list, the Vijay-Lokesh Kanagaraj film, also starring Vijay Sethupathi, came in at 8. This year's list was taken over by sporting events like the Indian Premier League, the T20 Cricket world cup, India vs England series, and the Olympics. The top three places were occupied by Covid-19, the Farmers Protest and Team India.

Apart from this category, the Vijay connect was also seen in the categories of "Most Retweeted Entertainment tweet" and "Most Liked Entertainment tweet". The first look of Nelson's upcoming Vijay film, Beast, came on top of both these categories.

With such a clean sweep, it can be safely said that the man with the plan has firmly positioned himself as one of the most influential voices from Indian cinema on Twitter.
