Mani Ratnam, Shankar and a host of directors to start a production banner?

According to multiple sources, directors Mani Ratnam, Shankar, AR Murugadoss, Mysskin, Vetrimaaran, Gautham Menon, Sasi, Vasanthabalan, and Balaji Sakthivel are teaming up to start a production banner. Named Rain On Films, the production house will be bankrolling films and web series for various OTT platforms. 

While an official confirmation is yet to be released, the sources state that the directors are planning on setting up a revenue model on par with that of leading production houses. 

According to reports, the production house's first project will be helmed by director Lokesh Kanagaraj after the completion of his upcoming film Vikram, starring Kamal Haasan, Vijay Sethupathi and Fahadh Faasil. 

Meanwhile, Mani Ratnam is currently busy with Ponniyin Selvan. On the other hand, Shankar has films like Indian 2, the Hindi remake of Anniyan and a pan-Indian film with Ram Charan, in different stages of production.
