The popular TV anchor passed away due to a rare bile duct cancer

VJ Anandha Kannan, the popular Tamil TV anchor, passed away due to a rare bile duct cancer. The VJ was diagnosed with the fatal disease a few months ago. He was 48. 

A native of Singapore, Anandha Kannan rose to fame when he moved to Chennai and became an anchor of a well-known Tamil music channel. He turned out to be a household name in the early and mid-2000s.

Anandha Kannan also acted in the film Adhisaya Ulagam (2012), and he played a cameo in Venkat Prabhu's film Saroja (2008). The actor also acted in two unreleased films - Ithanai Naalai Engirunthai and Mullum Malarum

Many Tamil celebrities took to social media to offer their condolences. Venkat Prabhu wrote, "A great friend a great human is no more!! #RIPanandakannan my deepest condolences."
