Gautham Menon's next with Silambarasan TR has been titled Vendhu Thanindhathu Kaadu. The first look poster of the rural film features a lungi-clad Simbu holding a sickle stick and we see a forest burning in the background.

A source close to the unit says, "The title is a reference to Subramania Bharathi's poem and is chosen as a tribute to the legendary poet's 100th year death anniversary. The makers went ahead with this title as it is also relevant to the story of this film. The story for this action film is written by Jeyamohan. The film will be different from Gautham Menon's previous films.

Vendhu Thandhathu Kaadu, which has music by AR Rahman, is produced by Ishari Ganesh under his banner Vels Films International. Simbu has apparently lost 15 kilos for this role. The film went on floors today at Thiruchendur.

Gautham and Simbu had previously worked together in Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa (2010), Achcham Yenbadhu Madamaiyada (2016) and the short film Karthik Dial Seytha Yenn (2020).

Simbu will next be seen in Maanadu and Pathu Thala. Gautham, meanwhile, has Joshua Imai Pol Kaakha and Dhruva Natchathiram in different stages of production.
