When Dhanalakshmi smiled at Muthupandi: The worlds of Thiruchitrambalam and Ghilli collide

CE Features

It is almost two decades since one Mr Muthupandi professed his obsessive love for one Ms Dhanalakshmi. Although Saravanavelu and his family had different plans altogether and nipped that toxic love right in the bud. What if that Muthupandi went on to have a happier marriage and had a son called Thiruchitrambalam?  Sounds odd? But it is one of the warmest things to have happened on social media recently.

A fan-made edit of scenes from Thiruchitrambalam coupled with scenes from Ghilli has sent netizens on a warm and nostalgic ride to 'simpler' times. This edit was made even more special by the use of Anirudh's Thenmozhi number. While this video was being shared by netizens all over, it was taken a couple of notches higher when Prakash Raj himself took to his social media accounts to share this video, and captioned it, "Who ever did this .. made my day. Thank you for the love … CHELLAMs I love uuuuu #muthupandi #gilli"

Prakash Raj also tagged his Ghilli co-star Trisha in the tweet, and the latter reshared the video with three laughing emojis.

This interaction between Muthupandi and Dhanalakshmi added much-needed positivity to social media, and fans have been gushing about this 'cuteness'.

Incidentally, both these actors are sharing screenspace in Mani Ratnam's upcoming big-budget multistarrer, Ponniyin Selvan.
