Bigg Boss Tamil Season 6: A luxurious prison

Navein Darshan

Five seasons of Bigg Boss Tamil have passed and around a hundred have contested for the title, but one superstar continues to hold sway. Kamal Haasan, yes, but for the purposes of this piece, we are talking about the house itself. The place which has so far been known for its quirky, bright aesthetics that aim to discomfit, feels dressed up in plush interiors this season. So much has the envelope been pushed that the house seems to resemble a five-star hotel almost.

Unlike the previous seasons, the designers haven't stuck to a common theme this time, with the predominant motif being flowers. A wall is adorned with a massive image of a rose; there’s a corner with rose and lotus patterns; there’s a stone art of a woman with a flower, and there’s an enormous lotus ceiling light placed right above the dining table. There are many walls themed on leaves, with leaf hanging placed near the restroom.

The lounge is themed in gold, with chequered floors; the couch is painted in vibrant red, and there’s the familiar neon touch at the dining space. Where earlier the interiors were designed to add to the discomfort, now, it seems there’s also a bit of emphasis on helping calm some inevitable anxiety for the participants, who hope to spend a hundred days in this confined space.

Perhaps the most interesting addition is the gigantic birdcage that is designed to accommodate at least three adults. Placed on the lawn, this cage will replace the underground cell in the previous season, meant to serve as a prison. Also, the swimming pool is back, this time with a mini diving ramp as well! The kili koondu (as it is called) is expected to be introduced in the later episodes, and it is suggested that the cage will be used on and off through the season. The confession room and activity room, however, remain the same.
While previous seasons showed that the design varied for men and women, this time, a common blue colour has been chosen for every bed in the sleeping area. With reports suggesting that the USP of the sixth season of Bigg Boss will be that non-celebrity participants will be coming in as well, let’s wait to see whether a loss of drama and hype from the previous seasons can be addressed this time. The house sure seems ready.
