As Ranbir Kapoor and director Rajkumar Hirani await the release of their film, Sanju, tomorrow, the Sanjay Dutt biopic has unexpectedly landed up in legal trouble.

A formal complaint has been filed against actors Ranbir Kapoor and Anushka Sharma for allegedly making derogatory remarks against sex workers in the biopic. A dialogue from the film's trailer - where Ranbir Kapoor (playing Dutt) while discussing his sex life with Anushka Sharma's character in the film is heard saying, '308 without counting the prostitutes' - has apparently come under fire. A few sex-workers have hence approached the National Commision for Women and raised their objection against portraying their community in bad light.

The National Commision for Women, which received the complaint, has apparently forwarded the same to the Electronic Media Monitoring Centre for necessary action. The EMMC, under the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, is the body commisioned to monitor the content of television channels and report on potential violations.

Representatives of the film's makers were not available for comment.

Sanju, meanwhile, is all set to be the biggest release for filmmaker Rajkumar Hirani and Ranbir Kapoor as the makers have acquired four thousand plus screen counts across India.  Produced by Vinod Chopra Films and Rajkumar Hirani Films, the biopic also stars Paresh Rawal, Manisha Koirala, Vicky Kaushal, Sonam Kapoor and Dia Mirza amongst others.
