Blumhouse's Firestarter remake, starring Zac Efron goes on floors

The film, also starring Michael Greyeyes, is adapted by writer Scott Teems

The shooting of Blumhouse and The Vigil director Keith Thomas’ remake of Stephen King’s Firestarter has commenced from today. The film will star Zac Efron in the lead. 

The makers released a video from sets via their Twitter handle and confirmed that the film has entered production. 

A remake of the 1984 film of the same name, the film revolves around a young girl who develops pyrokinesis and the secret government agency known as the Shop which seeks to control her. 

The film, also starring Michael Greyeyes, is adapted by writer Scott Teems. Jason Blum and Academy Award winner Akiva Goldsman, who earlier teamed up on the Paranormal Activity franchise, are jointly bankrolling Firestarter
