Robert Eggers' The Northman lands a 2022 release date

Robert Eggers, the director of The witch and The lighthouse, is back with his new psychological Viking thriller, The Northman, which has been scheduled to release in theaters on April 8, 2022

Universal Pictures International will premiere the film internationally on the same day.

The shoot of Eggers’ third directorial was wrapped up in December 2020. The production originally began in the early-2020s in Ireland, but had to pause for a period of time due to COVID-19.

The Northman,​ comes as a follow-up to 2019’s The Lighthouse which starred Dafoe and Robert Pattinson and earned an Academy Award nomination for best cinematography. In addition to Dafoe, The Northman will be reuniting Eggers and Taylor-Joy, who starred in his directorial debut, The Witch. Eggers has also co-written the screenplay with Icelandic novelist Sjón.

The north man is produced by Lars Knudsen, Mark Huffam and New Regency.
