The trailer of the upcoming second season of Amazon Prime Video's The Family Man dropped earlier today to much anticipation.

However, within hours of the trailer's release, many took to Twitter to condemn the makers, claiming that the show touches upon the sensitive topic of the Srilankan Tamil conflict and that it hurts the sentiments of Tamils through its inaccurate portrayal of the rebels in the Srilankan war.

The new season, set in Chennai, pits the protagonist Srikanth Tiwary (Manoj Bajpayee) against the antagonist played by Samantha Akkineni, who can be seen in a military uniform, speaking in a Srilankan Tamil dialect. A dialogue from the trailer hints at the protagonists having to deal with a new threat in the form of a 'coalition between ISI and the Rebels'.

The uproar led to the hashtag #FamilyMan2_against_Tamils trending on Twitter.

Season 2 of The Family Man, created by Raj and DK, premieres on June 4. The new season also marks the return of Priyamani, Sharib Hashmi and Seema Biswas, while additionally featuring a host of Tamil actors including Mime Gopi, Ravindra Vijay, Devadarshini Chetan, Anandsami and N Alagamperumal.
