CE Features

Fresh off the critical success of her feature directorial debut, One Night in Miami, Academy Award-winning actor and filmmaker Regina King is reportedly set to direct her second feature film, titled Bitter Root. An adaptation of the comic book series by the same name, the film is being produced by Legendary Pictures.

Set amidst the Harlem Renaissance of 1924, the comics follow a fallen family of monster hunters who come face to face with a supernatural evil that casts its dark shadow over New York City.

In addition to directing the adaptation, King will also be producing the film. Ryan Coogler, the director of Black Panther, will also be serving as one of the producers, along with Zinzi Coogler and Sev Ohanian.

David F Walker, Sanford Green, and Chuck Brown, the creators of the comic books, will executive produce the film.

On the acting front, King is currently part of Netflix's Western, The Harder They Fall, alongside Jonathan Majors, Idris Elba, and Zazie Beetz.
