African-American actor Gabourey Sidibe, who was nominated for the Oscars in the Best Actress category for her performance in the 2010 movie, Precious, is all set to make her directorial debut with the upcoming thriller, Pale Horse.

The film, which is expected to go on floors later this year, has been written by Asabi Lee and Paul Hart-Wilden, based on a story by Chris Courtney Martin.

Set in the Pacific Northwest, the film will trace the ordeals of Naia, an esteemed, MS-affected, reclusive YA book author. "When Naia decides to shelter the man who escaped captivity with her long-missing brother, she finds herself caught up in a diabolical web of horror and mystery," the film's synopsis reads.

"I'm super excited to start work on my first feature. This project is a true stand-out and the character Naia is a bad a*s! Also, Effie and Wellington are powerhouse visionaries, and I'm so excited to be able to work with them to create this gripping thriller," Sidibe said, in a statement.

The project will be produced by Gamechanger Films.
