Actor John David Washington is set to team up with Rogue One: A Star Wars Story director Gareth Edwards for the upcoming science-fiction film, True Love.

The film will mark Washington's next outing in the scifi genre following Christopher Nolan's Tenet. The plot details of the New Regency film are being kept under wraps, but it is reportedly set in the near future and is based on an original idea from Edwards, whose directorials include Godzilla (2014). Apart from directing the project, he will be writing the script as well.

True Love is bankrolled by Rogue One producer Kiri Hart along with Edwards. 

John David Washington was last seen in the Netflix romantic drama, Malcolm & Marie. He is currently awaiting the release of Beckett, co-starring Alicia Vikander, Boyd Holbrook, and Vicky Krieps.
