Devarakanasu makes its way to the Cannes Film Festival

Suresh Lakkoor's directorial debut, Devarakanasu, has got an entry to participate in the panel screening and final selection of the Cannes Film Festival. "The screening for invitees will take place on May 30 and the festival screening will begin from July 6 and will go on till July 17," says Suresh who has done a film making course at the New York Film Academy and received an advanced diploma in acting from Barry John School of Acting. He has previously been an assistant director in Bollywood and worked in many television commercials.

Written by Sunil Ram, Devarakanasu is backed by C Jayakumar and C Shakher. "It was my wish to begin my film career with a children's movie, and that's how Devarakanasu happened," says Suresh, who has shot the entire film in the rustic locations of Chintamani. "This film highlights the innocence of a village boy and his struggle for livelihood. It brings in elements of Swacha Bharat, women empowerment, and alcohol abuse. It also contains the essence of culture and the true life of a village," he adds.

Starring child artistes Deepak and Amulya in the lead, Devarakanasu also features Youvaraj Kini, Arushi Vedika, Mani, Roopa, and Vijay Rakesh in important roles.

While the music is by Sandy Sandallow, the dialogues and lyrics have been written by Lingaraj Itihasa. DoP Ratnajit Roy has handled the cinematography of Devarakanasu.
