Producer Aditya Chopra has requested the Maharashtra government to allow his banner Yash Raj Films (YRF) to purchase 60,000 COVID-19 vaccines for cine workers.

In a letter to the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE), YRF said that it has requested Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackeray to allocate and allow purchase of COVID-19 vaccines for 30,000 registered workers.

“With the film industry going through an unprecedented time there is an urgent need to restart at the earliest so that thousands of workers can start earning their livelihood again and protect their families,” the letter read.

The letter also mentioned that the Yash Chopra Foundation would bear all costs including raising awareness, transportation of workers and setting up required infrastructure for the vaccine programme.

FWICE has also sent a letter to the CM highlighting the proposal.
