Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s debut music video, Baarish Ki Jaaye, was recently released. The song, which also features Sunanda Sharma, has crossed over 27 million views on YouTube.

Sung by National Award-winner B Praak, Baarish Ki Jaaye is a romantic track about a gangster who falls in love with and marries a woman with mental health issues. The music video is directed by Arvindr Khaira, who has helmed Punjabi songs like Pachtaoge and Filhal in the past.

On getting Nawazuddin on board for his new song, Arvindr shares, “Our music video is based on a true story, so back when I heard and came across the story, I was conceptualising it for a music video. And when the concept was ready, the first person that came to my mind was Nawazuddin Siddiqui.”

It was a long shot because Nawaz had never featured in a music video before. But he ended up loving the track and agreed to do it.
