Kangana Ranaut's Thalaivi to release this April

The long-awaited news about the release plans for Kangana Ranaut-starrer, Thalaivi, a biopic of late CM J Jayalalithaa, was announced today at the trailer launch event. The Vijay directorial will hit the screens on April 23. The trailer was launched on the occasion of Kangana's birthday

The film, which marks Kangana's return to Tamil cinema for the first time since Dhaam Dhoom (2008), also stars Arvind Swami as MGR, Madhubala as Janaki, Samuthirakani as RM Veerappan, and Poorna as Sasikala.

Produced by Vibri Media, Thalaivi will be simultaneously released in Tamil, Telugu, and Hindi. Written by Vijayendra Prasad and Madhan Karky, Thalaivi has music by GV Prakash Kumar and cinematography by Vishal Vittal.

Meanwhile, in the recently announced 67th National Film Awards, Kangana won her fourth National award for her roles in Manikarnika and Panga
