Actor Sivakarthikeyan said he wished Dhanush would win the National Award for his performance in Asuran. The Doctor actor said this in reply to a tweet posted by a popular Tamil magazine about people's choices for this year's National Awards.

The actor's gesture has won many hearts and several people on Twitter have praised him for it.

Sivakarthikeyan collaborated with Dhanush during his own formative years in the film industry. He acted in a supporting role in Dhanush's 3, which was produced and directed by Aishwarya Dhanush. Later, Dhanush produced Ethir Neechal with Sivakarthikeyan in the lead, which became a blockbuster and reinforced the erstwhile VJ's position in the industry as an actor.

Dhanush has previously won the National Award for Aadukalam (2011), which was also helmed by Vetri Maaran.

National Awards for 2019 films are set to be unveiled today at 4 pm.
