67th National Film Awards: Chhichhore wins Best Film, Manoj Bajpayee, Kangana Ranaut win Best Actors

Sushant Singh Rajput-starrer Chhichhore has been named the Best Hindi film at the 67th National Film Awards. Additionally, actors Manoj Bajpayee (Bhonsle) and Kangana Ranaut (Manikarnika, Panga) have been named Best Actor and Best Actress. Manoj shared the Best Actor award with Dhanush (Asuran). 

Other wins from Bollywood include Best Dialogue Writer (The Tashkent Files), Best Non-Feature Film (An Engineered Dream), Best Male Playback Singer (Kesari, Teri Mitti by B Praak), Best Children’s Film (Kastoori), Best Supporting Actress (The Tashkent Files, Pallavi Joshi), Best Film on Social Issues (Holy Rights and Ladli), Best Environment Film (The Stork Saviours) and Best Promotional Film (The Shower). 

Released in 2019, Chhichhore was Sushant Singh’s last theatrical release. A campus drama, the film was directed by Nitesh Tiwari and also starred Shraddha Kapoor, Varun Sharma, Tahir Raj Bhasin and others.

The 67th National Film Awards honoured films that were certified by CBFC in 2019. Normally, the ceremony is held on May 3 every year. However, the coronavirus pandemic has delayed the awards by a year this time.
