Welfare petition filed against Karnan's Pandarathi Puranam song; court to send legal notice to makers

Pandarathi Puranam, the song from Dhanush's upcoming film, Karnan, is in trouble as a resident from Madurai has filed a welfare petition against the song in Madurai High court. The court is set to send a legal petition to the film's makers, censor board, and YouTube. 

According to reports, the petitioner, has claimed that the song Pandarathi Puranam insults certain communities in the state. The person demanded the removal of the song and opposed the film's release till appropriate action was taken. The case has now been adjourned to April 16. 

Pandarathi Puranam, composed by Santhosh Narayanan, is sung by Deva and has lyrics by Yugabharathi. 

Directed by Mari Selvaraj, Karnan also stars Rajisha Vijayan, Lal, Gouri G Kishan, Yogi Babu, and others. The film is produced by Kalaipuli S Thanu's V Creations.

Karnan is scheduled for theatrical release on April 9.
