Director Selvaraghavan, in his interview with Cinema Express about his recent release Nenjam Marappathillai, made strong points on the state of screenplay writing and writers in Tamil cinema.

"Screenplay writing is hard and magical at the same time. It's a whole industry in itself in places like Hollywood. That is not the case here. However, we are getting there," he opined.

When asked if he would be ready to write screenplays for other directors, Selva said, "I would have done it already if that was an option (laughs). Screenplay writers are not given their due respect here. Having said that, I am ready even now to write scripts for others. I would be more than happy to do it."

The director also opened up about the En Pondatti Ooruku Poita song from Nenjam Marappathillai, and how it is an homage to director Mani Ratnam. Watch the full conversation here:

Nenjam Marappathillai is a supernatural horror film, starring SJ Suryah, Regina Cassandra, and Nandita Sweta in the lead roles. The film, which has opened to mixed responses, has music by Yuvan Shankar Raja.
