The trailer of Saina has dropped on the occasion of International Women’s Day. Starring Parineeti Chopra, the film is a biopic of Indian badminton champ Saina Nehwal. It is set for theatrical release on March 26.

Directed by Amole Gupta, Saina chronicles the ace shuttler’s rise to become World No 1. The trailer highlights Saina’s childhood years in Haryana and the support she received from her parents. Having proved her mettle in court, Saina faces a range of challenges in fulfilling her dream. “I’ll break the Great Wall of China,” she says when called to play in the big leagues. Towards the end, the trailer touches upon the public scrutiny Saina faced — and how she bounced back to inspire countless girls.

“It's a huge responsibility to essay someone like Saina Nehwal on screen,” Parineeti said in a statement. “She is a legend herself and I was very scared about how people will react, but I'm overwhelmed with the love we are getting from all over the world. The film is a celebration of the unending spirit that lies in each woman."

Saina also stars Manav Kaul (as former badminton player and coach Pullela Gopichand), Meghna Malik, Subhrajyoti Barat, and Ankur Vikal.
