After making his directorial debut with the Sanskrit feature Ishti in 2016, Malayali filmmaker G Prabha is back with another Sanskrit film titled Taya. The title of the film translates to By Her.

Anumol plays the main lead. Nedumudi Venu, who has appeared in Ishti, is also part of the cast.

Babu Namboothiri, Dinesh Panicker, Nelliyodu Vasudevan Namboothiri also star in the film that is produced by Gokulam Gopalan under the banner of Sree Gokulam Movies.

G Prabha shares that Taya takes on the exploitation of Namboothiri women in the 19th century and that it is a different interpretation of Thathri Kutty's Smarthavicharam, a sensational episode in Kerala history. The event, which occurred in 1905, dealt with the prosecution of a Namboothiri woman, Kuriyedathu Thathri, for promiscuity, and how she defended herself and named over 60 lovers while fighting the injustice perpetrated by the men who occupied the highest echelons of the power structure.

Sunny Joseph is helming the camera, with B Lenin editing it. Biju Paulose is the music composer.

G Prabha, who is a Sanskrit scholar, expects to wrap the film in another two weeks.
