Scarlett Johansson will produce Disney's Tower of Terror film, which will also star her in the lead. Toy Story 4 director and Inside Out writer Josh Cooley is currently penning the script, though plot details are being kept under wraps. Johansson will produce via her company These Pictures alongside Jonathan Lia, and though there's no director formally attached yet, Disney is said to be aiming to rope in an A-lister as Johansson's market value has increased a lot with her solo superhero film Black Widow gearing up for a release. 

Tower of Terror is based on the popular Disney theme park attraction, which culminate with a free-falling elevator drop. The ride was previously turned into a 1997 TV movie starring Steve Guttenberg and Kirsten Dunst, though a new theatrical feature has been in development since 2015, when John August was tapped to write a story about five people in a rich hotel who take an elevator and disappear after it's hit by lightning.
