Joaquin Phoenix and Rooney Mara to star in Lynne Ramsay's next?

It is being speculated that real-life couple Joaquin Phoenix and Rooney Mara will be teaming up for an upcoming film directed by Lynne Ramsay. While conversing with filmmaker Esmé Creed-Miles at the Valencia International Film Festival, Ramsay confirmed that the actors were talks to star in her forthcoming directorial. 

If the project materialises, the film will mark the fourth collaboration between Phoenix and Mara after Her, Mary Magdalene, and Don’t Worry, He Won’t Get Far on Foot. This will also be the second time Phoenix will be working with Ramsay after the 2017 film, You Were Never Really

Ramsay's directorial credits also include Ratcatcher (1999), Morvern Callar (2002), and We Need to Talk About Kevin (2011).

Meanwhile, Phoenix was last seen in Joker, which earned him an Academy Award. His upcoming films include C'mon C'mon, directed by Mike Mills, and Ari Aster's Disappointment Blvd. Likewise, Mara will be next seen in Guillermo del Toro's Nightmare Alley, co-starring Bradley Cooper.
