Alia Bhatt has started her prep for her debut production, Darlings.

Set in Mumbai, the film unfolds against the backdrop of a conservative lower-middle-class neighbourhood. It traces the lives of two women as they find courage and love in exceptional circumstances.

Alia shared a picture of the script on Instagram Stories and wrote, “Prep.”

Darlings is written by Parveez Sheikh and Jasmeet K Reen, who is also directing the film. The cast includes Alia, Shefali Shah, Vijay Varma and Roshan Mathew. It’s being co-produced by Shah Rukh Khan’s Red Chillies Entertainment with Alia’s Eternal Sunshine Productions.

“I am really excited to be part of Darlings,” Alia had previously shared. “It's a powerful story with a lot of humour and doses of dark comedy. I am thrilled to have Darlings as my first film as producer, that too in collaboration with my favourite, Shah Rukh Khan and Red Chillies.”

Alia’s upcoming releases are Gangubai Kathiawadi, Brahmastra and RRR.
