The makers of the upcoming Akshay Kumar-starrer Bell Bottom have announced the film's release date. The film is set to release in theatres on July 27. "I know you have patiently waited for Bell Bottom! Couldn’t be happier to finally announce the release of our film. Arriving across big screens worldwide," wrote Akshay, while sharing the film's release date on social media.

The announcement makes Bell Bottom the first major Hindi film set to release in theatres this year. The news comes a day after the Rowdy Rathore-actor refuted rumours on taking a salary-cut for the film

Set in the 80s, the spy-thriller features Akshay in the role of a RAW agent, and also stars Vaani Kapoor, Huma Qureshi, and Lara Dutta. The film was initially scheduled to release on April 2 this year before postponing to an indefinite date on the back of the resurgence of Covid-19. Directed by Ranjit M Tewari, the film is being bankrolled by Pooja Entertainment in association with Emmay Entertainment.

Meanwhile, Akshay has multiple films in different stages of production, including Atrangi Re, Prithiviraj, Bachchan Pandey, and Ram Setu. His film Sooryavanshi is ready for release and a release date is expected to be announced shortly.
