John Boyega exits Netflix's Rebel Ridge mid-shoot

Actor John Boyega has exited the Netflix movie Rebel Ridge mid-shoot, with the streamer citing “family reasons” as the reason for the departure.

The filming of the film began on May 3rd in Louisiana, and according to Deadline, Netflix is on the hunt for a replacement.

Rebel Ridge is directed by Jeremy Saulnier (Blue Ruin, Green Room), and is said to explore the systematic American injustice through action, suspense and black humor. It also stars Anna Sophia Robb, Emory Cohen, Don Johnson, James Cromwell, James Badge Dale, Zsane Jhe and Al Vicente.

The film is produced by Anish Savjani, Neil Kopp, Vincent Savino and Saulnier, with Macon Blair and Louise Lovegrove serving as executive producers.

Meanwhile, Netflix’s Boyega-starrer They Cloned Tyrone is currently in post-production. Boyega is also set to star alongside Robert DeNiro in Netflix's upcoming heist film The Formula. Apart from these, the actor is also set to headline the sequel of his 2011-blockbuster Attack The Block.
